Children in Need 2024
In this special episode of Weatherman Walking, Derek Brockway is in Pembrokeshire. As he walks from St David's to Whitesands, we celebrate the amazing work done by projects and charities from around Wales that are supported by BBC Children in Need. Derek's walk is just over eight miles, and it starts in St David's, the smallest city in the United Kingdom thanks to its 12th-century cathedral. From here, Derek heads towards the coast, passing another spiritual site dedicated to St David's mother, St Non. The episode highlights some of the amazing charities and projects from across Wales who receive invaluable support from BBC Children in Need. Near Ruthin, we see how Calon RDA offers children and young people the opportunity to build their confidence through a connection with horses, like Blossom who suffered a devastating stroke as a toddler. In Aberaeron, local charity RAY Ceredigion gives children and young people living in a rural area of west Wales new opportunities. Abergele Community Action supports children and young people through the Abergele Youth Shed. A new addition to the Weatherman Walking team, Andrew Jenkins, visits TOGS, a local charity near Pontypool providing support for disabled young people and those with additional learning needs. Meanwhile, in Caernarfon, two local charities – GISDA and Frân Wen – have teamed up to help young people through the creative arts. Finally, in Fishguard, a local youth group known as POINT provides a range of services for young people growing up on the north Pembrokeshire coast. (Senderinfo)
