Porridge
Classic British comedy from the 70s. Ronnie Barker plays Norman Stanley Fletcher who is serving a 5 year stretch at Her Majesty's pleasure at HMP Slade. Watch as he strives to bide his time, keep his nose clean, and refuses to let the system grind him down. He gets partnered with a young, naive cell mate, Lenny Godber (played by Richard Beckinsale), who is a first offender and must quickly learn the ropes. They are never far from the beady eye of their nemesis, in the shape of chief warder Mackay who is determined to run the cell blocks along the lines of his days in his Scottish Highland regiment. He always seems to get hoodwinked by Fletcher. And then there's officer Barroclough, a warden rather too liberal in his approach for his own good. A masterclass in comic timing, characterisation and script writing, which despite its unlikely subject matter became a comedy hit. (Senderinfo)
