Es wurde eine Oscarnacht wie keine andere. Nicht nur, dass die Corona-Pandemie die Organisation auf den Kopf stellte und die Stars in diesem Jahr an mehreren Orten weltweit mitfieberten. Auch bei den Auszeichnungen gab es so manche Überraschung. Vor allem schrieb die in China geborene Regisseurin Chloé Zhao Oscar-Geschichte mit ihrem Drama "Nomadland". Sie selbst wurde als erst zweite Frau für die beste Regie geehrt. Außerdem gewann ihr Werk den wichtigsten Preis für den besten Film. Das schaffte bisher nur ein anderer Film einer Regisseurin: "Tödliches Kommando - The Hurt Locker" von Kathryn Bigelow.
